Batman is a popular license, no matter what is being licensed. From toys to comics to movies to games, DC Comics’ Dark Knight is a cash cow of mega proportions. There have been duds in television (the cult followed 60′s show) and in gaming (the game we are talking about here).
Sega was doing a lot of things right with their Genesis system, things that Nintendo was not able to compete with. For one, they were big on bringing in licensed properties that weren’t on Nintendo (and locking a few up like Michael Jackson). Another thing they did right was bringing arcade games home. It is no small secret that the original Bionic Commando received a lot of attention from the censoring team at Nintendo when it was originally released. Things were changed in the text and the story suffered and the game was incoherent in some parts.
While the Super Nintendo got a version of Wolfenstein 3D a couple of decades ago, we are finally seeing work commence on a Sega Genesis version. Back in the day this title was believed to be impossible by many developers. The indie programming community is proving that belief wrong.
The Vectrex, the little system that was probably quite a bit ahead of its time, par for the course on these things, which died decades ago is receiving a new title. Bloxorz is a puzzle title that is quite reminiscent of Intelligent Qube but more “puzzly” and quite interesting looking.
